Cloaked NPC
The Cloaked NPC is an MVP pixel-art made by player KillerAndMX that has been permanently residing in Mexico since December 2020.
Background
The Cloaked NPC is a sprite from the game "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga". The description of it is as follows: "An unused, cloaked mysterious-looking Beanish character. Only idle animations for this character exist. They gave a sidequest in Beanbean Castie Town in the E3 demo."
Killer used to defend his country (Mexico) every day for years, including the art piece. At one point people started helping by repairing the art because it was so old and had gained popularity.
Protection
A yellow border was added in 2022 between January and September to help protect the artwork.
In 2025 when Alaska took over Mexico, the art was placed under special protection by the Historic Landmark Association after §3 of Alaskan Law, which is a status that aims to preserve pixel-art.
