MERC (Mercenary Army)
Overview and Summary of MERC:
MERC was a faction in Pixelplace.io that was owned and founded by one person named "TheArcher" sometime between October and December of 2019, created after he decided that he no longer liked being in the TRUE faction. MERC is not to be confused with the similar sounding faction of MRCA, MERC is short for Mercenary, and it is mainly found on canvas 2722, as a sort of empire in exile. The main colors of MERC are Maroon, White, and Dark Blue, with a white dot added instead of a star, to make it simple to replace. When MERC wants to take over territory that is temporarily or that it knows won't last a while, it will just use one of the 3 main colors and write "MERC" on the territory. MERC currently only has land on 2722, with MERC being a sort of Viking Empire, not to mention being the largest on the European section of that canvas. MERC was disbanded on March 29th, 2022 and the tag is being held by TheArcher's alt.
Before Becoming MERC:
Before TheArcher officially created MERC, he was a part of the TRUE Void faction ever since he first joined Pixelplace.io, with him eventually controlling all of the US under his rule, but as veterans of Pixelplace.io know, that didn't last for long, and TheArcher couldn't keep up the maintenance required for all of the US.
Territorial Complications of MERC:
The official territory of MERC is a question that is up to the members of the faction, because due to the fact that the fact is solely a Mercenary faction, it means that it can exist and help others even if it doesn't own territory. On the other side of the coin this also means that if it can gain territory, it is likely that the faction will try its best to take said territory, meaning that the core territory of the faction is everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
Foreign Policy of MERC:
MERC Foreign policy is more defensive than it is aggressive, in the fact that the
leader of MERC, TheArcher, is quiet paranoid when it comes to possible invasion of it's territory. The first rule of thumb is that MERC always defends itself first if it has lost even a couple pixels, this also means that if MERC and its allies are being invaded at the same time, MERC prioritizes itself over others. The second rule of thumb is that if MERC is not in danger of being invaded then it will do everything in its power in order to keep its allies alive, that doesn't mean 100% of their territory will be saved, but they will be alive no matter what.
Timeline Of MERC:
The story of MERC has always been shrouded in darkness, to the point that even the owner doesn't know the full story of the MERC faction
Around November 2019: After the collapse of the TRUE faction in the United States on canvas 7, TheArcher decides to split off from the True faction and do something that he actually enjoyed, creating MERC in the process.
Around the start of December 2019: TheArcher hasn't had any official territory since the collapse of the TRUE faction, but gets the idea of joining the, at the time, safer MVP canvas and giving a go at that.
December 5th, 2019: TheArcher joins MVP and after some time, conquers his first territory on MVP, by taking the Southernmost territory of Argentina periodically, after a few days this is also where the first MERC flag is flown.
February 26/27th, 2020: TheArcher takes Angola and Namibia, accidentally causing a rivalry between MERC and FORT.
From February 27, 2020 to March 1, 2020: MERC Reaches a new record size by owning most of the Canadian Arctic, The East Coast of Africa south of Cameroon but North of South Africa, Iraq for a time, Texas, and Oklahoma
From March 1, 2020 onward: This marked the decline and quick collapse of the MERC Empire, mainly due to the decline of one of its best allies, NORD, and a recent mass dotting of MVP.
March 7, 2020: After MERC was invaded by an unknown brown nation, while TheArcher was also asleep, NORD invaded the brown and unknowingly took the rest of MERC's territory, this marked the point when MERC didn't return to MVP until about a month.
March 8, 2020: After being agitated and uneasy after being destroyed on MVP, TheArcher decided to try his luck on canvas 2722, where a player named "Kactus100" introduced him onto the canvas and helped him start on canvas 2722
March 9, 2020 to April 1, 2020: Nothing exiting really happens to MERC, as it has now become a great power on canvas 2722, and feels pretty safe that he won't have any issues, though he still has a grudge and fears from MVP, and he decides to multitask and face MVP the next day
April 2, 2020: MERC sets up a base in Venezuela and the Guyana Shield on MVP, while still having most of its territory on canvas 2722, expanding further into Brazil, but he gets distracted on something else and doesn't notice that his territory was taken over.
April 3, 2020 to 15th of June: MERC hasn't really delved too deep into the politics of other canvases, but it has taken part in
AlmosYT's battle royales.
16th of June, 2020: MERC begins a massive assault in an attempt to unite all of South America (which had been united many times before), this attempt succeeds
Evening of 16th of June to early morning of 22nd of June, 2020: MERC has controlled South America for about 6 days, which is considered an achievement by its members
mid-day 22nd of June, 2020: MERC is invaded by multiple forces, and the defenses available at the time were not able to defend, partially due to the fact that the leader of MERC was still asleep during the attack, and South America is divided.
June 5th, 2020: TheArcher joins the mod team
June 14th, 2020: MERC has an unexpected faction boom as multiple people join the faction, it is still unknown how or why they joined the faction.
August 22nd, 2020, 2 months after the fall of MERC South America: MERC reconquers South America with relative ease and reunites it once again, paving the way for a large scale empire.
August 23rd, 2020: MERC invades North Western Africa, Western Europe, and Malaya reaching it's largest extent ever recorded.
In between this event and the next; MERC Chairman TheArcher is part of many RP canvases in his downtime and is fairly active on them as well as being mods on some of them.
May 25th, 2021: After several months of being dormant, MERC Reborn is declared and strikes Oceania to take as much territory as possible, later on MERC member Mowl takes the Continental USA after the USOA faction went AFK, leading to MERC's largest extent since it died back in 2020.
May 27th / May 28th, 2021: After just a few days of chilling in Oceania, and later just the Malay Archipelago, MERC ceases to have territory on the map, marking the end of the first of many of what are now going to be called Shadow Wars.
March 29th, 2022: After around 32 months of existence, MERC is unanimously disbanded by its three most active members, including TheArcher
