V2
The V2 update was a major Pixelplace update released on October 9th 2020 that overhauled the entire website and introduced many significant changes to the game.
The time after the V2-update up until the present as a whole often is referred to as V2, while the time before the update is often referred to as "V1".
Changes
User Interface and template
The update's most significant visual change was the new UI. Before the update, the background color of the UI was grey and the color palette was located on the left side of the screen. New features included unique user profiles, a social board with the ability to add users as friends or block users, and a main menu with different tabs (News, Paintings (with sub-tabs: Browse, Settings/Tools,Top Users, Create new Painting), Guilds, Shop, Account, Terms) for easy navigation.
Gameplay
In-Game-Currency
An important drastic change about the gameplay was the introduction of Pixelplace Coins, an in-game-currency that can be bought, awarded, claimed, won, and since 2022 gambled in a lottery.
Items
Items can be obtained by players, who can gift them to others. Items that were added with the V2 update include:
Pixel-placing bombs in different sizes, Premium membership of different duration, colorful nametags and name changes.
All of these items are sold for coins in the shop.
