PixelPlace.io Rules & Code of Conduct
PixelPlace.io is intended to be a fun and safe place where players can create, communicate, cooperate, and compete.
Competition, conflict, and disagreement are part of the game. Abuse, harassment, illegal content, and other prohibited behavior are not.
If you see a player violating these rules, please report them using the /report command in chat.
1. Rules That Apply Everywhere
The following rules apply everywhere on PixelPlace.io, including all paintings, chats, forums, guilds, usernames, profiles, whispers, and Anarchy canvases.
There are no canvas or NSFW exceptions to the rules in this section.
Nazi Symbols & Nazi Content
Nazi symbols and Nazi-related imagery are prohibited everywhere on PixelPlace.io.
This includes:
- Swastikas.
- Nazi flags, insignia, emblems, and symbols.
- Nazi propaganda.
- Content glorifying, supporting, or promoting Nazi ideology.
Swastikas may not be drawn anywhere on PixelPlace.io, including Anarchy canvases.
We have chosen to prohibit swastikas entirely because they are overwhelmingly associated with Nazism, antisemitism, racism, and fascism in the context of an online public canvas.
Sexual Content Involving Minors
Sexual content involving anyone under 18 is strictly prohibited everywhere on PixelPlace.io.
This includes:
- Sexual drawings or pixel art involving minors.
- Sexualized depictions of minors.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- Links to such material.
- Requests for or discussions intended to obtain or distribute such material.
- Sexual roleplay involving minors.
- Content depicting fictional or real minors in a sexual context.
NSFW canvases do not provide an exception to this rule.
Adult-only NSFW content may be permitted on paintings specifically designated as NSFW, but sexual content involving minors is prohibited on every painting and in every part of PixelPlace.io.
Doxxing & Personal Information
Do not publish, threaten to publish, or encourage others to publish another person's private or identifying information without permission.
This includes doxxing, leaking private information, or sharing sensitive personal data for the purpose of harassment, intimidation, or abuse.
Illegal or Dangerous Content
Content that is illegal or presents a serious danger to other users is prohibited.
Advertising
Unauthorized advertising is prohibited throughout PixelPlace.io.
Indirect advertising intended to bypass this rule is also considered advertising.
Advertising violations may result in permanent account or platform restrictions.
2. Chat, Forums & Paintings
When communicating or creating content on PixelPlace.io, you are responsible for what you post and how you express yourself.
Language
Global chat is English-only.
If you want to communicate in another language, please use:
- The Non-English chat tab.
- Guild chat.
- Another appropriate language-specific area.
Spam
Do not spam.
This includes repeated messages, excessive flooding, repetitive content, disruptive copy/pasting, or other behavior intended to overwhelm chat or interfere with normal conversation.
QR Codes
QR codes are prohibited.
Hate & Discrimination
Do not post content that attacks, degrades, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred toward people based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or similar characteristics.
Racist, antisemitic, fascist, or other discriminatory abuse is prohibited.
Politics
Political discussion and political artwork are allowed.
However, political content must still follow all other PixelPlace.io rules.
The following are prohibited regardless of political context:
- Threats of violence.
- Calls for violence.
- Celebration or encouragement of violence against people or groups.
- Hate speech or dehumanization.
- Violent extremist propaganda.
- Content supporting or recruiting for violent extremist organizations.
Simply depicting a country, flag, political symbol, political figure, political opinion, or political movement is not automatically a violation.
Adult / NSFW Content
Explicit adult sexual content is permitted only on paintings specifically designated as NSFW.
Adult sexual content is not permitted in normal paintings, global chat, forums, usernames, guild names, or other non-NSFW areas.
Links to external NSFW communities, servers, websites, or content may also be removed when posted in non-NSFW areas.
As stated above, sexual content involving minors is prohibited everywhere, including NSFW paintings.
Offensive, Vulgar & Disruptive Conduct
Profanity by itself is not necessarily prohibited, but language may not be used to:
- Harass another player.
- Threaten another player.
- Repeatedly target another player.
- Disrupt chat.
- Promote hatred or discrimination.
- Intimidate or abuse other users.
Context matters when moderation decisions are made.
Intellectual Property & Other Rights
Do not knowingly use PixelPlace.io to distribute content that unlawfully violates another person's intellectual property, contractual, privacy, or other legal rights.
3. Anarchy Paintings
The Anarchy paintings /0 and /13 have significantly fewer gameplay and content restrictions than normal paintings.
For example, ordinary rules against griefing or disruptive painting generally do not apply there.
However, Anarchy does not mean anything goes.
The following rules still apply on /0 and /13:
- No Nazi symbols or swastikas.
- No sexual content involving minors.
- No illegal content.
- No doxxing.
- No prohibited advertising.
- No content that presents a serious danger to users.
- Any other rule specifically stated to apply everywhere on PixelPlace.io.
4. Accounts
Players are limited to two accounts per physical person:
- 1 main account.
- 1 alternate account.
Do not share accounts.
If you share an account with another person, your account may be associated with that person's accounts and activity for moderation purposes.
Account sharing may result in restrictions or bans, particularly when it is used to evade penalties or account limits.
5. Botting
Automated painting is allowed only under the rules in this section.
Authorized botting that follows these rules is not considered cheating.
Bot Limit
Each physical person may operate a maximum of one painting bot.
Pixel Placement Limits
Bots must follow the same server-provided pixel placement rate limits as normal players.
The current rate is communicated by the server through the WebSocket rate_change event.
Do not attempt to exceed or bypass this limit.
Accounts that place pixels faster than permitted may be automatically rate-limited or permanently banned.
Botting an Area
Only one bot may operate on a particular pixel-art project or area.
Bots may not continuously prevent other players from modifying an area.
If another player paints over your bot's pixels, your bot may not immediately overwrite those pixels.
You must wait 24 hours before using a bot to restore or repaint the same disputed area.
Guild & Player Wars
Botting during Guild Wars or Player Wars is prohibited.
Painting /7
Botting on /7 is permitted only in:
- Antarctica.
- Greenland.
- Land that does not exist in the real world.
Do not bot or dot inside MVP-protected zones, including the Europe region or the mini world map.
Antarctica Exception
Antarctica has a special botting rule.
Bots may defend an area continuously without following the normal 24-hour overwrite restriction, provided the defended area is no larger than 100 × 100 pixels per physical person.
All other botting rules continue to apply.
6. Cheating & Exploits
Cheating is prohibited.
This includes attempting to gain an unfair advantage through unauthorized software, scripts, exploits, modified clients, protocol manipulation, bugs, or other methods.
Examples include:
- Circumventing pixel placement limits.
- Exploiting bugs for an unfair advantage.
- Manipulating the game client or network protocol in unauthorized ways.
- Evading account or bot limits.
- Using automation that violates the Botting rules.
- Using multiple people or accounts to circumvent restrictions.
Botting that complies with Section 5 is specifically allowed and is not considered cheating.
If you discover an exploitable bug, please report it rather than abusing it.
Scamming & Exploitation
Scamming or deliberately exploiting other players is prohibited.
Attempts to deceive other players, steal accounts, circumvent restrictions, or otherwise seriously harm another player's experience may result in account termination.
7. Usernames & Guilds
Usernames, guild names, and other player-controlled names must follow the same content rules as the rest of PixelPlace.io.
Names may not contain prohibited hate speech, Nazi symbols or references, sexual content involving minors, threats, harassment, or other prohibited content.
PixelPlace.io may change or reset names that violate these rules.
Additional account restrictions may also be applied depending on the violation.
Inactive Usernames
A username may be released if:
- The account has been inactive for more than 180 days; and
- The account has no active premium subscription during that period.
If your username is released, you will be able to choose another username when you return.
Deleted Accounts
When an account is deleted at the owner's request, its username remains reserved for 30 days before it may become available again.
8. Player Behavior & Griefing
Players are expected to treat one another with reasonable respect and avoid behavior primarily intended to ruin another player's experience.
Griefing
Griefing is prohibited on paintings where the painting's rules prohibit it.
Griefing is permitted on painting /7.
Anarchy paintings may also have different rules regarding griefing.
Always follow the specific rules displayed for the painting you are using.
Harassment
Repeatedly targeting, threatening, stalking, or harassing another player is prohibited.
Competition over canvas space does not automatically constitute harassment. Moderators will consider context, intent, frequency, and the nature of the behavior.
False Reports
Players are encouraged to report genuine rule violations.
Knowingly filing false reports with the intention of getting another player punished or restricting their gameplay is itself a violation.
9. Whispers & Private Messages
Do not use whispers or private messages to:
- Spam players.
- Harass or threaten players.
- Distribute prohibited content.
- Share sensitive personal information.
- Evade public-chat moderation rules.
PixelPlace.io reserves the right to review private messages when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, safety issues, or violations of these rules.
10. Enforcement
Violating these rules may result in actions including:
- Content removal.
- Warnings.
- Chat restrictions.
- Painting restrictions.
- Temporary suspension.
- Account termination.
- Platform-wide access restrictions.
Serious violations may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
Repeated violations may result in increasingly severe penalties.
Where appropriate, PixelPlace.io may also cooperate with law enforcement or other relevant authorities regarding illegal activity.
Moderation decisions are based on the circumstances of each case, including the content, context, severity, intent, and history of violations.
Attempting to evade a moderation action through alternate accounts or other methods may result in additional restrictions.
11. Questions About the Rules
